Homework
We have a long jam packed day and a late dismissal. A child’s opportunity to explore things beyond the school day should not be hindered because of homework. Have fun and enjoy your kids!
At times we all need a little extra help. If your child is struggling with a concept of topic I will provide you with ways to help at home. At this point taking some time to help at home is very important, but should not exceed 15 minutes a night.
Reading with your child every night is a great way to foster a love of reading. Some suggestions to engage your child in reading are to:
- Explore fiction and nonfiction!
- Talk about rich vocabulary words and explain their meaning and how to use them.
- Talk about character emotions: how do they feel, how do you know, can you use the words or pictures to prove your thinking?
- Nonfiction: what can you learn from the pictures, does this make you think of anything else, what is this book mostly about and how do you know?
**I will be sending home a monthly reading log with your students. This reading log can either stay at home or in your student’s green folder. This is not required. It is simply to encourage students to read at home. **
If you would like me to send homework with your student, let me know! :)
